Sick Day

Hit with a virus that knocked me out. Plain Cantonese-style rice congee, served with a preserved duck egg.

what does that preserved duck egg taste like?

PS: I ended up ordering the Marc Jacobs book through Amazon. Should be getting delivered to me tomorrow!

Derek: If you can get over the initial slightly sulphurous odor (which quickly passes), the taste is actually sweet and a little salty. The texture of the yolks is very creamy as well, which is maybe why it reminds me a little of foie gras. Some people eat it on its own with a bit of pickled ginger or sesame oil.
